2006 / 2007 Season 10/02/2007
Undeterred by last Saturdays set-back, Buxted took their good from
to the first division leaders, dominating the first half and holding
firm in a scrappy second period. Ricky Parrish opened the account
on the half hour, latching on to a loose ball from a corner and
whipping the ball home. The visitors had made several openings
prior to that, including a disallowed goal by Dean Ghasemi after
just 5 minutes. Intelligent no nonsense defending by a back four
ably lead by Dale Mayhew, backed up by keeper White, a muscular
midfield performance by Marvin Muddle and penetrating forward play,
particularly by Stuart Cairns proved more than a handful for Forest
Row.
A few minutes in to the second period and Buxted went further ahead,
Andy Reid collecting a neat pass, and picking a shot from 15 yards
to beat the keeper low to his left. Following a midfield clash 10
minutes later, Matty Hughes and a home player both saw red. Row
seemed to be winning the subsequent battle of fitness but were
unable to breakdown the Buxted defensive screen, although the
impressive White was now drawn more into the goalkeeping action.
Another Buxted player was dismissed when Richard Ambrose vocalised
his Anglo Saxon a little too enthusiastically but even then the
visitors managed to create another narrowly missed opening for
Ghasemi.
this was a good all round team performance by the visitors, whose
man of the match was Stuart Cairns, a constant 90 minute menace down
the left flank...
