Adjusting quicker to the blustery conditions Hartfield converted
defensive lapses by Buxted into two early goals, both lobbed
skilfully over keeper white, and for the first half hour were
the better side, using quick, long passing to good effect. But
the visitors slowly upped their game, and in the second period,
with the wind behind them, began to create scoring
opportunities. Only diligent play by a robust defence denied
the visitor a share of the points they deserved. White and
Ambrose were the pick of the Buxted Defence, and going forward
McDougall and Hughes excelled, the latters delightful long
through ball providing a memorable moment of skill, at least for
the visitors...
