2005 / 2006 Season 11/02/2006
From 25 yards the freekick whipped into the
unprotected area of the net, the wall and goalkeeper helpless.
Noodles had pulled Buxted back to 2 - 1, with one of his
spectaculars! With about 20 minutes left the away team
searched for an unlikely equaliser. Chances were made but not
put away and a mighty relieved Roffey eventually left the pitch as
winners.
Once again the seconds had responded positively
to very late withdrawals and calls on the squad, leaving the bare
eleven to make the long journey to Horsham. The formation had
to be changed, players pulled in from the thirds and others put into
unlikely positions - and there would be no touchline encouragement
because of assistant referee duties. The team gelled, several
chances were made against the meanest defence (only seven goals
against in all competitions) and Andy Harper, Lee Turner and Chris
Scott all rose to the occasion with the second team regulars.
Roffeys fast striker ran from just onside to
score their first and in the second half Andy Harper, who had made
many fine saves was beaten to the ball for the home sides second.
Every player gave 100%, man of the match goes to Andy harper.
