2005 / 2006 Season 28/01/2006

A persistent individual effort by Richard turner and a thumping header from Noodles following some fine passing and a cross from Stuart Cairns gave Buxted a well deserved two goal lead.  Then just on half-time, the bad luck currently dogging Buxted struck again.  A long shot heading for Clive whites safe hands was finely deflected into our net.  At the start of the second alf a scrambled equaliser set up a nail biting second half, with Buxted mainly on the defensive.  We held out until extra time (Thanks to Clive saving a penalty) but injuries, and the strength and fitness of the Rangers was beginning to tell.  A well made and taken goal put the home team ahead and two more followed late on with Buxted exposed as they pushed forward.

Out of the cup, yes.  But this was a really good performance against a side who looked many divisions better than their current location in Div 7.

Buxted gave everything and there were many good performances, but for sheer committed effort Man of the match went to Russell Curd.
