In atrocious conditions Buxted again clawed
back a first half two goal deficit to share the points with in form
promotion contenders Turners Hill. After Buxted narrowly
missed an early scoring opportunity , Turners Hill imposed
themselves with some neat passing and were making the most of the
slippery surface, especially down their left flank. It was a
skidded cross from the left that eluded Clive White and Russ Curd
enabling the visitors to open the scoring. A missed tackle
gave them their second and it looked as if Buxted might concede
more, but they doggedly held on until the break.
the second half introduction of Ian Burgess and
Adam Smith sealed up the Turners Hill left side and Buxted were
suddenly on top. with 30 minutes to go Ricky Parish replaced
Noodles and headed in a fine cross from Adam Smith. With time
running out the ball fell to an unmarked Dean Morris who found the
net with an accurate strike from outside the area. the
Exuberant celebrations might have been premature with some ten nail
biting minutes to go but the game ended level.
Every player contributed toward the gaining of
this invaluable point but man of the match went to Russ Curd who
reveled in the conditions, spending more time horizontal than
vertical.
